Have you been thinking about changing your career? And thought about trying counselling? Or maybe you want to find out more about listening skills and the psychological theories involved in counselling. If so, then this taster course is for you.
In this course, you’ll find out more about:-
- What counselling is and isn’t
- How it differs from other helping roles
- The core listening skills a counsellor uses
- The 3 main psychological theories: person-centred, psychodynamic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
- Self-awareness and it’s importance in counselling
At the end of this course you will be in a better position to decide whether you’d like to progress into counselling training or not. The next step would be joining the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills. Find out more about this course here.

2 Study Options:-
Self-study is via our online portal where you can take your time to work through the modules so learning at your own pace. Self-study learning is ideal for dipping your toe in to see if counselling training might be for you. From here in-person training will then be necessary to progress through to become a counsellor. It includes video lectures, exercises, demo’s and ‘conversations with…’ to give you an all-round learning experience.
Face to face is ideal if you’d like to get a full experience of what counselling training can offer you. It involves theory lectures, discussions, small group exercises and skills practice sessions.
