Our Level 6 in Attachment, parts and inner child work contains cutting edge theory and application enabling you to become a versatile and highly skilled practitioner when working with attachment wounds, relational difficulties, developmental trauma and early deprivations.
It will both deepen and broaden your work with clients supporting you to assess and work with a range of complex client presentations, working safely and effectively.
Entering into a programme of this nature offers the opportunity of growth and transformation for students where you’ll be supported to engage with your own attachment styles, integrate split off parts, unblend from dominant parts whilst attending to your inner child from a place of compassion. We believe that that you, as therapist, are at the heart of your work and agree with Jung’s take on personal development where the counsellor can only take a client as far as they’ve been themselves and no farther.
A deep knowledge of attachment theory, parts and inner child work is now seen as pivotal in the knowledge and skills base of therapists. Bessel van der Kolk, a leading trauma expert, has highly recommended Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, describing it as “the treatment method that all clinicians should know”.
This qualification is for practicing counsellors who wish to gain a deeper understanding in attachment theory & how to work with the inter and intra relational attachment styles of clients in their work through an attachment-based therapeutic model.

There are a number of books which are essential to read alongside the course – the scheme of work with plot these books alongside session topics – you can see these in bold in the reading list.
Self-directed Study

Which course should I do?
We’re often asked which course is most suitable, the Level 5 Somatic Trauma or the L6 Attachment & Parts training. Ultimately, it is your decision and will depend on the gaps in your learning & skills, your client group and your area of interest.
Having said this, we require students to hold a robust understanding and application of trauma theory and skills to create a solid and safe foundation for attachment work. The L5 somatic trauma course is often a natural progression post-qualifying to support safe practice with the recommendation of waiting a year post qualifying to join the attachment & parts training. This will also enable you to embed your core model prior to commencing the L6. Students are however welcome to apply upon qualifying where they meet requirements.
